LHH is looking for a full-time Accounts Payable Accountant to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Job Summary:The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions related to vendor payments. This role combines hands-on processing duties with higher-level accounting responsibilities, including reconciliations, reporting, and compliance with company policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:Invoice Processing and Reconciliation:
Review, verify, and process invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper authorization.
Match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.
Reconcile AP accounts and vendor statements to ensure all payments are accurately recorded.
Payment Execution:
Prepare and process payment runs, including ACH, wire transfers, and checks.
Ensure payments comply with vendor terms and internal controls.
Maintain accurate payment records and manage payment schedules.
General Ledger and Month-End Close:
Post accounts payable transactions to the general ledger.
Assist in month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.
Prepare journal entries for adjustments and corrections as needed.
Vendor Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and disputes.
Maintain positive relationships with vendors while ensuring adherence to payment terms.
Manage vendor onboarding and maintain accurate records, including W-9s and tax documents.
Compliance and Audit Support:
Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and applicable accounting standards.
Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline the accounts payable process and improve efficiency.
Assist in the implementation and optimization of AP-related systems and tools.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
3-5 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP processes.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Other Requirements:
Experience with ERP systems and AP automation tools is highly preferred.
Knowledge of tax compliance related to AP (e.g., 1099, VAT).
CPA or similar certification is a plus but not required.
Compensation: $30-$35/hour DOE
